The Heron Trophy played for as a two man team Stableford Competition and played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club was sponsored by Gilmore Engineering and won by Craig Dean and Paul Banks in a very close and exciting finish. Only one point separated the first four winning teams.
At halfway Robert Artt and Adrian Rouke held a one point advantage over Craig Dean and Paul Banks and the Tom Wiggins/Ryan Wiggins partnership. John Caulfield and Michael Alexander were a further three points behind. Through The Maple the Artt/Rouke team were still leading by a point from Dean and Banks. The Wiggins partnership was another point back with Caulfield and Alexander a further two points down. Up the Grove the Dean/Banks partnership parred the Devils Elbow, birdied Beechers and the Grove to regain the lead by one point from the Artt/Rouke partnership. The Wiggins team (bogey, par, bogey) were another point behind with Caulfield and Alexander (bogey, birdie, par) a further two points behind. In a very close finish Craig and Banks finished with two pars to WIN OVERALL by one point from Artt/Rouke (par at Lowlands and a double bogey at Shirleys Cottage), T.Wiggins/R.Wiggins (bogey, par) and Cauilfield/Alexander (birdies at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage) teams. Second place went to the fast finishing Caulfield/Alexander pairing (better back nine) and the T.Wiggins/R.Wiggins twosome came third (better back nine) with Artt and Rouke in fourth place.
