The Winter Sweeps continued this week at Galgorm Castle Golf Club and it also saw the commencement of the Winter League and the golfers had fine weather throughout the day.

Bryan Logan (11) took an early lead through Arthurs Seat after opening with a par at The Fort followed by two birdies. Andrew Robinson (9) was a point behind after a double bogey, par and a birdie. Rory Sempey (2) (birdie, par, bogey) was another point behind and David Stirling (8) (double bogey, par, par) and Andrew Whann (11) ('ding', par, bogey) were a further point down.. Another two points further back came Chris Cooke (6) (par, bogey, 'ding'). A new leader emerged at Beechers with Robinson (par, birdie, par) leading by two, three,five, six and seven points respectively from Logan (three pars), Sempey (par, par, birdie), Whann (bogey, bogey, par), Stirling (three bogeys) and Cooke (two bogeys and a birdie).Over the closing three holes Logan tried hard to overtake Robinson with a par, bogey, par finish but Robinson finished par, par, double bogey to hold on to win by one point. Sempey (par, birdie, par) came third a further two points behind. Another point down, Whann (two bogeys and a par), Stirling (par, bogey, birdie) and Cooke (birdie, birdie, bogey) finished together with fourth place going to Cooke with a better last six.
The Gross was won by Michael Reid (-2) with 19 gr/pts.

Michael Burton (8) was leading at the Trout Hole but being hard pressed by Ken Gregg (8), Ian Stewart (9), Patrick Coleman (4) and Neville Neill (4) one point behind. Garth Wilson (9) was a further point behind. Through Broadmeadows Wilson, after two pars and a bogey and Neill (two pars and a bogey) were the new leaders by a point from Burton (double bogey and two bogeys) and Coleman (birdie, bogey, double bogey). A further point behind came Gregg (bogey, double bogey, bogey) and Stewart (two bogeys and a double bogey). What a very close and exciting finish lay ahead. |Burton improved and frinished with three pars to win by one point from Wilson (bogey, double bogey, par), Neill (par, bogey, par), Coleman (three pars), Gregg (three pars) and Stewart (par, bogey, par) who finished together. Second place went to Wilson with a better last six and in third place came Gregg with a better last two).
The Gross was won by Patrick Dallat (-3) with 18 gr/pts.
Twos were recorded by – S.McCabe and R.Gilchrist.
