Competition in all Divisions was very close throughout from the very start. Thanks go to the groundstaff for having the course in such good condition considering the consistent rain throughout the week.
Back 9 (main competition) Division 1
Through Tbe Maple Patrick Coleman (2) and Gary Henry (1) were leading by one point but being pushed hard by Graham Martin (4), Paul Reid (3) and Paul Hughes (3). Up the Grove Martin (par at Devils Elbow, birdie over Beechers and a par at the Grove) and Reid (birdie and two pars) were the new leaders with Coleman (bogey, birdie, par) and Henry (pars at Devils Elbow, Beechers and the Grove) close up a point behind. Hughes (par, double bogey, par) was another point behind. In a close finish Martin ('ding' at Lowlands and an eagle three to finish) and Reid (bogey, eagle three at Shirleys Cottage) came home a point clear of Coleman (bogey at Lowlands and an eagle three), Gary Henry (bogey, eagle three at Shirleys Cottage) and Hughes (bogey at Lowlands and an eagle three to finish). First place went to Martin (better last six), second place to Reid and in third place came Hughes with a better last three.
Back 9 (main competition) Division 2
Approaching the Devils Elbow Mark Galloway (5) was under pressure from Ryan Simpson (6), Jonathan Larmour (7) and Robert Artt (5) a point behind. Leonard Campbell (6) ('ding' at The Maple) was a further two points down. Samuel Graham (11) ('ding' at The Maple) was aanother point back. Over Beechers Larmour (bogey, par) and Galloway (par, bogey) held a one point advantage over Simpson (two bogeys), Artt (par, bogey) and Graham (par, double bogey). Campbell (par at the Devils Elbow and a bogey at Beechers) was another point behind. There was another close encounter over the closing three holes. Simpson came with a late run of birdieup the Grove, par at Lowlands and a birdie at Shirleys Cottage to win by one point from Larmour (bogeys at the Grove and Lowlands and an eagle three to finish). Two pointa further behind came Mark Galloway (two bogeys and a par at Shirleys Cottage), Artt (bogeys at the Grove and Lowlands and a birdie to finish), Graham (two bogeys and a birdie finish at Shirleys Cottage) and Campbell (two bogeys and an eagle three finish). Third place went to Artt with a better last six.
Patrick Dallat (-3) won the Back 9 Gross with 22 Gross.
Front 9
At Walkers Home William McKigney (7) held a slender one point advantage over Neil Fitzsimmons (5), Chris Cooke (4) and Peter Daly (3). Andrew McWilliams (18) was another two points behind. Fitzsimmons, after recording pars at Walkers Home and Broadmeadows and a birdie at The Treasury, had taken a one point lead over McKigney (par, bogey, par). McWilliams (par, double bogey, par) was another point behind. Cooke (par at Walkers Home, bogey, par at The Treasury) was a further point down with Daly (bogey, double bogey and a birdie at The Treasury) another point back. Fitzsimmons came home bogey at the Sanctuary and a par at Longlands to win by two points from four players involved in a close finish for the placings – McKigney (double bogey at the Sanctuary and a bogey at Longlands), Cooke (two pars), McWilliams (two double bogeys) and Daly (par , bogey at Longlands) – Second place went to McWilliams with a better last six and with a better last six third place was taken by Cooke.
Michael Alexander (1) won the Front 9 Gross with 19 pts.
