Winter Sweep
Back 9 (main competition) Division 1
Approaching the Devils Elbow after four holes David Murray (3) was under strong pressure a point behind from three players – Colin Black (3), Ian McCully (2) and Gary Jackson (2) – for the lead. Black emerged as the new leader after a bogey at Devils Elbow and pars at Beechers and the Grove. Murray (bogey, par at Beechers and a bogey up the Grove and McCully (three pars) were a point behind and Jackson (two pars and a bogey at the Grove) was another point behind. In a close finish Black with a par down Lowlands and a birdie at Shirleys Cottage held on to win by one point from McCully (birdies at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage) and Murray (par at Lowlands and an eagle three to finish). Second place went to McCully with a better last six with David Murray third. Jackson (par, eagle three) was a point behind the placings.
Jamie Sutherland (-3) won the Gross with 23 pts.
Back 9 (main competition) Division 2
Through The Maple David Martin (4) had a one point lead over James McKay (5). Another point behind came Jack McKee (4) and Brian Watt (5). Over the next two holes the leadership changed with McKee (birdie at Devils Elbow and a par over Beechers) and McKay (two pars) vying for the lead a point ahesd of Martin (bogeys at Devils Elbow and Beechers) and Watt (two pars). In a very close finish McKee with a birdie at the Grove, a par at Lowlands and an eagle three at Shirleys Cottage and Martin (three birdies) finished together a point clear of Watt (birdie up the Grove followed by pars at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage) and McKay (par at the Grove, bogey down Lowlands and a birdie to finish. First place went to young McKee with a better last six with Martin in second place. Watt with a better last three finhished in third place.
Front 9
Garry Robinson (8) opened briskly with three pars and a birdie in the opening four holes. He was closely followed a point behind by Gareth Elliott (8). Sam Moorman (2) and Tony Quinn (5) were a further two points down. Robinson continued to lead through The Treasury after a bogey at Walkers Home followed by two pars. Elliott (par, bogey at Broadmeadows and another par at The Treasury) was trying hard to catch up but was still a point behind. Moorman (three pars) and Quinn (par, double bogey at Broadmeadows and a par at The Treasury) were another two and three points respectively back. In another close finish Elliott (par ar the Sanctuary and a bogey at Longlands overtook Robinson (double bogey, bogey at Longlands) to win by one point. Moorman (par at the Sanctuary and a birdie at Longlands) finished in third place another point behind. Quinn returned with two pars, a point outside the placings.
Patrick Dallat (-3) won the Gross with 19 pts.
