Winter Sweep Back 9

 

Division 1

Through The Maple George Tumilson (3) was leading by a point from Jonny McIlroy (6) with George McCooke (5) andn John McCarry (4) another point behind. Tony Carroll (3) and George Kernohan (5) were a further point down. Up the Grove Tumilson with a par at theDevils Elbow followed by a birdie at Beechers and a par at the Grove had opened up a four point lead over the other four players with two holes to play. Was he home and dry? In a very close and exciting finish Tumilson finished with bogeys at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage and was joined by McCooke with two pars and with a better last six first place went to McCooke. There was also a very close ending for third place a point behind between Carroll (birdie, par); Kernohan (par, bogey; McIlroy (bogey, par) and McCarry (birdie at Lowlands bogey at Shirleys Cottage. Third place went to Carroll with a better last six.

 

Division 2

Reaching the Devils Elbow Ryan Wiggins (8) held a two point advantage from Thomas Dunbar (12) ('ding' at The Fort), Robert Artt (9), Gerard Lynn (10) and Tom Wiggins (11). Brian Mahany (8) was another point behind. Over Beechers R.Wiggins (par at Devi8ls Elbow and a bogey at Beechers) was still leading by two points from Dunbar (par, bogey). Another point behind, Artt (two bogeys); Mahany (par, bogey); Lynn (two bogeys) and T.Wiggins (two bogeys) were trying hard to catch up. R.Wiggins finished with a par at the Grove, bogey at the Lowlands and a par at Shirleys Cottage. Dunbar joined R.Wiggins with a bogey, par, birdie finish and with a better last six first place went to Dunbar. Artt (bogey at te Grove, and pars at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage) finished three points behind in rhird place. A.further point outside the placings came Mahany (bogey, par, bogey), Lynn (par and two bogeys) and T.Wiggins (par and two bogeys).

 

Front 9

At Walkers Home Caelan McCambridge (4) was leading by one point from Philip Galloway (8) with Colin Orr (10) and Raymond Steele (11) another point behind. Down Broadmeadows McCambridge after a par at Walkers Home and a bogey at Broadmeadows was still leading by a point but being strongly challenged by Galloway (double bogey, par) and Steele (bogeys at Walkers Home and Broadmeadows). Orr (two bogeys) was another point behind. In a close finish McCambridge recorded pars at The Treasury and Sanctuary and a birdie at Longlands. He was joined at the finish by Galloway (two pars and a birdie at Longlands. First place went to Galloway with a better last six.. Two points behind the placings Orr (par at The Treasury, bogey at the Sanctuary and a par at Longlands) and Steele (par and two bogeys) finished together.
