The Monthly Medal and Subsidiary Stableford Competitions sponsored by Isherwood & Ellis were played for at Galgorm Castle Golf Club with a turn-out of around two hundred golfers. In a very close finish Alastair Murray (15) won with a 66 Nett (BB9) to a 66 Nett by Trevor Fleming (8).
Division 1
Through halfway Chris Lawton playing off scratch and Bryan Martin (1) were vying for the lead one shot ahead of Trevor Fleming (8). Paul Banks (7) and Daniel Reilly (4) were a further four shots behind. At the Devils Elbow Lawton had increased his lead to three shots over Martin and Fleming. Banks and Reilly were a further five shots behind. Lawton parred the Devil's Elbow and Beechers to increase his lead to four shots over Fleming. Martin (bogeys at the Devils Elbow and Beechers), Reilly (two pars) and Banks (par, bogey) were another one, four and five shots respectively behind. Fleming finished with a bogey at the Grove , a par at Lowlands and another par at Shirleys Cottage to WiN the OVERALL RUNNER-UP placing. Lawton came home with three pars for a 69 Gross to take the Gross prize. Banks (bogey, birdie, par) and Martin (three birdies) finished together with a 71 Nett. Banks won Division 1 with a bettet back nine with Martin in second place. Third place was taken by Daniel Reilly who finished with two pars and a birdie at Shirleys Cottage for a 72 Nett.
Division 2
Through the Front 9 Ian McCully (11) was leading by three shots from Alastair Murray (15). Damien Casey (14) and Matthew Laverty (14) were another three shots behind. Through The Maple McCully held a five shot advantage from Murray with Casey and Laverty still another six shots behind. Murray parred the Devils Elbow, Beechers and the Grove and closed to within two shots of McCully (double bogey, par, bogey) with two holes left to play. Casey (par at the Devils Elbow, double bogey over Beechers and a bogey at the Grove) and Laverty (par, double bogey, bogey) were trying hard to close but were still another six shots back. Murray parred the Lowlands and a bogey at Shirleys Cottage saw him return to WIN OVERALL with a 66 Nett (better back nine). McCully bogeyed the closing two holes to win Division 2 with a 69 Nett. Casey bogeyed the Lowlands and finished with a par at Shirleys Cottage for a 71 Nett to take second place. Matthew Laverty returned with a bogey and a double bogey to finish in third place with a 73 Nett (better back nine).
Stephen Mailey (110 won the Seniors with 72 Nett (BB9).
Division 3
Approaching The Fort Harry Cook (18) was one shot ahead of Calvin Galbraith (20) with Stephen McCabe (18) another two shots behind. At the Devils Elbow tee Galbraith and McCabe were still 0ne and three shots respectively behind. After a par at the Devils Elbow followed by another par at Beechers and a double bogey up the Grove McCabe had closed to within one shot of Cook (par, bogey, triple bogey). Galbraith (double bogey, par, triple bogey) was another shot down. In a close finish Cook parred the Lowlands and parred Shirleys Cottage to WIN with a 69 Nett. McCabe bogeyed the Lowlands and parred |Shirleys Cottage to take second place with a 70 Nett and Galbraith (double bogey, bogey) came third with a 71 Nett (better back nine).
Subsidiary Stableford
Through Longlands Conor Doherty (24) was leading by one point from Kevin Devlin (25). John Bell (31) ('dings' at The Niuc and Broadmeadows) was a further three points behind. At The Maple Devlin was the new leader by two points from Doherty and Bell was another point behind. Devlin, after bogeys at the Devils Elbow and Beechers followed by a triple bogey at the Grove was holding his two point advantage over Doherty (bogey at Devils Elbow, par at Beechers but failed to score at the Grove) and Bell (two bogeys followed by a triple bogey up the Grove). In a very close finish on the final two holes Devlin recorded a bogey down the Lowlands and a 'ding' at Shirleys Cottage and was joined by Bell with two double bogeys a point ahead of Doherty (bogey, double bogey). First place went to Bell with a better back nine with Devlin in second place and Doherty third.
