G.Wilson wins Ace Fixings Stableford

Division 1

At halfway Wilson McVeigh (7) and Daniel Reilly (4) were leading by four points from Aaron Steele (9) and Tony Carroll (9). At The Maple McVeigh and Reilly were still vying for the lead four points clear of Steele. Carroll was another point back. Reilly parred the Devils Elbow, bogeyed Beechers and parred the Grove to take a one point lead over McVeigh (three bogeys). Steele (three pars) was another point behind and a further point back came Carroll (birdie at Devils Elbow, par at Beechers, bogey up the Grove). Reilly finished with two pars and was joined by McVeigh (two pars). First place went to McVeigh with a better last three with Daniel Reilly second. A point behind in third place came Aaron Steele (par, bogey). Carroll finished with two bogeys another two point behind the placings.

Steven Penney (2) won the Gross with 40 gr.Pts and Trevor Fleming won the Seniors with 39 pts.

 

Division 2

Norman Nicholl (10) ('ding' at The Treasury) was leading through the Front 9 by one point from Michael Alexander (10) with Rod Lennox (10) ('dings' at Walkers Home and the Sanctuary and Rory Brown (10) another point behind. Gary Wilkins (10) and Danny McConaghie (10) were a further point down. `Approaching the Devils Elbow Nicholl had a four point advantage over Alexander and Lennox. McConaghie and Wilkins were another point behind. Nicholl, after pars at Devils Elbow, Beechers and the Grove ,was still leading by four points from Alexander (three pars) and McConaghie (three pars). A further three points back came Lennox ('ding' at Devils Elbow, bogey at Beechers and a par up the Grove) and Wilkins (pars at Devils Elbow and Beechers and a double bogey at the Grove). Nicholl continued to lead and finished par, bogey to win by two points from McConaghie (par at Lowlands and a bogey at Shirleys Cottage). Four points further back in third place came Alexander (bogey, double bogey). Rod Lennox (par, bogey), Wilkins (bogey, par) and Brown (bogey, double bogey) finished together a further point behind the placings.

 

Division 3

Through Longlands Alan Proctor (16) was leading by two points from Owen Elliott (16). Colin Black (16) and David McIlroy (17) ('ding' at The Niuc) were a further point behind. At the Devils Elbow Proctor had increased his lead to four points over |Elliott, Black and McIlroy ('ding' at Piat). Up the Grove Black, after a bogey at the Devils Elbow followed by pars at Beechers and the Grove, had closed to within one point of Proctor (par, 'ding' at Beechers, bogey). Elliott (bogey, par, bogey) and McIlroy (bogey at Devils Elbow, birdie at Beechers, double bogey at the Grove) were another point behind. With two holes left to play a very close and exciting finish lay ahead! Proctor completed his round with two double bogeys and was joined by Black (bogey at Lowlands and a double bogey at Shirleys Cottage), Elliott (two bogeys) and McIlroy (double bogey at Lowlands and a par at Shirleys Cottage). A four way tie? First place was taken by Black with a better last three. Second place went to McIlroy with a better back nine and Elliott took third place with a better back nine.

Division 4

At halfway Garth Wilson (22) had a clear lead of five points from James Rea (27). Ashley Doole (25) ('dings' at Walkers Home and the Sanctuary) was another two points behind. David Millar (19) and Tony Dodds (21) ('dings' at Spences and Longlands) were a further one and five points respectively back. Through The Maple Wilson had increased his lead to nine points over Rea. Millar, Doole and Dodds were another two, three and four points respectively further behind. After a par at Devils Elbow and a bogey at Beechers Wilson was still well in the lead by eight points from Rea (two pars). Doole (two pars) and Millar (par, bogey) were another three points behind followed by Dodds (two bogeys) a further three points down. Wilson finished with a par up the Grove, a bogey down the Lowlands and a 'ding' at Shirleys Cottage to WIN OVERALL by four points from OVERALL RUNNER-UP Rea who finished with three bogeys. Doole, bogey at the Grove, 'ding' at Lowlands and a double bogey at Shirleys Cottage, was another seven points behind but won Division 4 by one point from Dodds (double bogey, bogey, birdie). Millar (double bogey, bogey, double bogey) came third a further point behind.
