Dodds wins the Monthly Medal

Matthew Weir (4) was leading through the Front 9 by a shot from Gerard O'Hagan (7) with Paul Campbell (8) another shot behind in the MET Healthcare sponsored Medal Stroke Competition played at Galgorm Castle Golf Club. Mark Hamilton (13) and Sean McCormick (4) were a further shot down. Tony Dodds (19) was four more shots further back. At The Maple Weir was still leading but being very closely followed by O;Hagan and Campbell a shot behind. McCormick and Hamilton were a further two and three shots back. Dodds was another six shots in arrears at this stage. At the Lowlands Weir (pars at Devils Elbow, Beechers and the Grove) was provinng difficult to overtake and was two shots in the lead from McCormick (birdie at Devils Elbow and pars at Beechers and the Grove) and Campbell (bogey at Devils Elbow and two pars)' O'Hagan ( double bogeys at Devils Elbow and Beechers, par at the Grove) was a further three shots behind. Hamilton (triple bogey at Devils Elbow, pars at Beechers and the Grove) and Dodds (par at Devils Elbow, birdie at Beechers and a double bogey at the Grove) were two and six shots resp0ectively further back. Dodds (par at Lowlands and a double bogey at Shirleys Cottage) and Hamilton (pars at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage) finished together, each with a 67 Nett. Dodds was the OVERALL WINNER with a better back nine and Hamilton WONthe Division. Weir (pars at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage) came second with a 69 Nett. McCormick (two pars), O'Hagan (two pars) and Campbell (triple bogey, bogey) returned together with a 71 Nett and third place went to McCormick with a better back nine.

Patrick Dallat (-4) Won the Gross with 67 Gross and Lyle Foster Won the Seniors with a 70 Nett.

DivisionA

At The Fort Patrick McAleese (15) was leading but being closely followed by Graham Martin (14) a point behind and Jonny McIlroy (18) a further point behind. Mark Galloway (12) (opened with a 'ding' and had another at the Sanctuary) was another two points back. Approaching the Devils Elbow Martin, McIlroy and Galloway were still one, two and four points respectively behind McAleese. McIlroy (parred the Devils Elbow, Beechers and the Grove) and closed to within one point of McAleese (parred the Devils Elbow bogeyed Beechers and parred the Grove). Martin bogeyed the Devils Elbow and Beechers and birdied the Grove and was another point behind. Galloway (parred the Devils Elbow, Beechers and the Grove) and was another point down. In a close finish McAleese (two pars) was joined by McIlroy (par, birdie at Shirleys Cottage) and with a better back nine McIltoy was the OVERALL Stableford WINNER and McAleese WON Division A. Martin (two pars) was two points behind in second place and in third place a further three points back came Mark Galloway (double bogey at Lowlands and a birdie at Shirleys Cottage.

 

Division B

At halfway Ryan Wiggins (17) and Colin Perry (23) were vying for the lead two points clear of Norman McKernan (28) and Seamus Laverty (20) ('ding' at Walkers Home). Cory Moore (23) ('dings at Walkers Home and Broadmeadows) was another two points behind. At the Devils Elbow Wiggins was two points ahead of Perry with Moore closing to within another point. McKernan and Laverty were a further two points down. Wiggins, after bogeys at Devils Elbow and Beechers had increased his lead over Perry (double bogey, bogey) to three points. Laverty (bogey at Devils Elbow and a par over Beechers)was another point behind. Moore ('[ding' at Devils Elbow, bogey at Beechers) and McKernan (bogeys at Devils Elbow and Beechers) were close up a further point down. Ryan Wiggins finished with a double bogey at the Grove and bogeys at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage to WIN the Division by three points over McKernan (bogeys at the Grove and Beechers and a triple bogey to finish) and Perry (bogey at the Grove, 'ding' at Lowlands and a bogey at Shirleys Cottage). Second place went to McKernan with a better back nine and Perry WON the Seniors with a better back nine. Laverty (double bogey at the Grove, bogeys at Lowlands and Shirleys Cottage) was another point in third place. Moore (triple bogtey, double bogey and bogey to finish) was two points outside the placings.
